Hey boo,
For years I’ve been writing love letters to myself — transforming the inner dialogue between me and me. A kind of reparenting from the inside out.
The other day, courtesy of a Martha Beck email promoting her coaching course — I received some words — words that stopped me in my tracks. Words that released me from a continual low level state of defense.
“You are not in trouble.”
Breathe in, long and slow. Breathe out, long and slow.
Hey boo. You are not in trouble. Where do these words land in your body? Do you feel a softening?
I don’t know why I always think I’m in trouble or worry I’ll get in trouble. (If you’re not sure what I’m talking about, think about waiting in line at the DMV.) Actually, I probably do know (school), but let’s not go there now.
It’s not necessary. A general acknowledgement is enough. You are not in trouble. This isn’t an exercise for the brain, but one of returning to the body.
Put your hand over your heart. Breathe in. Breath out.
Welcome yourself home.
I love ya boo.
Xo
